The relationship between author, typographer and printer is frequently vexed, generally misunderstood, but more often apathetic.The average author knows little about the typographic process and is simply motivated by their desire to see their text reproduced: it is not the printing but the getting into print that matters. This talk will look at the realities of the interdependent roles of author-typographer-printer; and how this relationship has been portrayed in fiction.
